K. Divyapriya, 28, granddaughter of former AIADMK Minister Dindigul C. Srinivasan, died in an accident on Udhagamandalam – Mettupalayam ghat section near Kallar in Coimbatore district on Thursday.
The accident took place in the evening when the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) she travelled along with family members met with an accident while descending the ghat section.
The police said that Divyapriya, her husband Karthik, his brother Parthiban and four others reached Udhagamandalam on May 20. The accident took place when they returning to Arapalayam in Madurai, after spending two days in the hill district.
According to the police, Mr. Parthiban drove the MPV and he lost control of the vehicle near Kallar. The vehicle rammed a tree on the side of the road and Divyapriya died on the spot, while others suffered injuries, said the police.
The body of the deceased was shifted to the Government Hospital at Mettupalayam. Those injured were hospitalised.
